I’m in Madagascar hanging with lemurs.

Every year my dad and I take a trip together. It’s our third year now and it’s kind of become an accidental tradition. Something we both look forward to now.
Typically on these trips I’m the youngest person so I get to spend time with a bunch of successful people in their 70’s and 80’s.
It’s the best.
They’ve all lost someone. They’ve had wins and losses. Regrets and bold choices. They’ve lived enough to know how little any of it defines you.
The thing about older people is they really don’t give a f*ck about what’s appropriate to bring up.
One dinner can cover death, health scares, money, politics, fear.
And you still leave lighter. Happier. Normal. Like oh, I’m not the only one.
I’m not special. Life just is.
Nothing you’re going through is that unique. Or that embarrassing.
Everything passes. Every day is a gift you didn’t have to get.
So I’m off this week. Soaking in the lemurs, the conversations, and the reminder that none of this lasts forever.
See you next week.
